The Centre for Marine Simulation (CMS) houses three different dynamic positioning simulators with custom built visualization systems designed by CMS. Kongsberg's SDP system was commissioned in 1997, expanded in 1998, and upgraded in 2009, while its KPOS system was installed and commissioned in 2010.

Converteam's C-series system was installed and commissioned in 2010. These simulators are used to replicate precision manoeuvring systems that are found on vessels operating in the offshore, scientific, cable-laying and cruise industries.

Features of this simulator include:

  • Simulation software - Kongsberg SDP21 version 6.2, Kongsberg KPOS version 7.0, Converteam C-Series DPS21 version 5.0
  • Visual system - three channel liquid crystal display (LCD) flat panels, 120 degree horizontal field of vision
  • Controllable binocular visual channel
  • Two ownships and six student workstations
  • ICAN Aldebaran electronic charting systems with survey module
  • Bow loading system operation panels
  • Thruster status panels
