Commissioned in 1994 and upgraded in 2010, the propulsion plant simulator is used to replicate the operations in the control room of a ship's engine-room. The simulator has a surround sound system and is supplemented by desktop trainers.

The propulsion plant simulator can be interfaced with the full mission bridge simulator.

Features of this simulator include:

  • Simulation software - Kongsberg Neptune version 2.3
  • Plant models - Man B&W 5L90MC slow speed diesel, Pielstick 10PC4-M22 medium speed diesel
  • One full mission and eight part task student workstations
  • Plasma mimic panel - 20 feet wide by five feet high
  • Hardware panels - switchboard, engine control room, engine room
  • Can be integrated with select models of full mission ship's bridge simulator
