Capabilities of the Offshore Safety and Survival Centre Research Unit whether at sea or in a labratory setting include:
- Measurement of a wide range of human performance characteristics
- Logging system capable of measuring walking speed, crowd congestion and paths for up to 1,500 people simultaneously in complex structures
- Measurement of engineering performance of various systems (loads, temperatures, pressures, inertial characteristics, positions/angles, etc)
- Quantification of environmental variables (wind, wave, barometric pressure, temperature, etc)
- Harsh environment video camera recording systems with annotation
- Electronic technology workshop and support
