Important Mandatory Changes to Safety Training for Laboratories (All Students)

All students exposed to chemicals in laboratories must complete mandatory safety training priohttps://www.mun.ca/science/undergraduates/laboratory-safety-for-students/r to entering labs. Newfoundland and Labrador’s Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) legislation has been recently amended. To accommodate this change, two new safety courses have been developed to reflect the changes in WHMIS legislation: SC 1807 - Safety in Science Lab (Lab Safety) and SC 1808 – WHMIS. Students are required to have successfully completed the updated course(s) prior to entering a lab, therefore, all current students with laboratory components in their program MUST complete these two courses.
