Research scientists from the Centre for Fisheries Ecosystems Research (CFER) are teaming up with the Fish, Food & Allied Workers (FFAW) union to update west coast fish harvesters on the Atlantic halibut satellite-tagging program in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Meetings with harvesters will take place Jan. 28-31.
Since 2013, CFER researchers have been tagging Atlantic halibut to track their behaviour, seasonal migration and spawning areas – information that aids in improving stock assessments and management strategies for sustainable fisheries.
On hand to answer questions about this ongoing research will be: CFER researchers Dr. Jonathan Fisher and Dr. Arnault Le Bris, and FFAW staff representative Jason Spingle.
The meetings take place:
Monday, Jan. 28
Tuesday, Jan. 29
Wednesday, Jan. 30
Thursday, Jan. 31
