Unfunded/unpaid International Opportunities Outside of MI

Below is a short list of some unfunded international opportunities that are available outside of MI. Many of these initiatives also offer options to apply for funding/scholarships to help offset the program costs.

 
1) Center for Sustainable Development

CSD offers Aquaponics, Permaculture and General internship opportunities for Spring, Summer and Fall. A room and board fee of $1000 is applicable, with opportunities for scholarships. Click HERE for more information

 
2) Cape Eleuthera Institute

CSD offers a variety of internship opportunities available in January, June & August. A room and board fee of $1000 is applicable, with opportunities for Financial Aid and Scholarships. Click HERE for more information

 
3) REEF Marine Conservation Internship

REEF Marine Conservation offers internship opportunities of 4 months in the Summer and Fall at the REEF Headquarters in Key Largo, Florida. College credit and funding opportunities are available. Click HERE for more information.

 
4) GO ECO - Diving for Marine Conservation in Mexico

GO ECO offers volunteer opportunities in Akumal, Mexico for 4, 8, 12, or 16 weeks. Volunteers spend their time collecting marine life data and engaging in beach conservation efforts. Click HERE for more information.

 
5) The Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI)

CCMI is offers a variety of research programmes throughout the year for undergraduate and graduate students aged 18+. The programmes include underwater field research methods in coral reef ecology and locally based research projects. 6) Monterey Bay Aquarium

The Monterey Bay Aquarium offers volunteering and internship opportunities for different student age groups. College credit and funding opportunities may be available. Click HERE for more information.

 
7) Nature Seychelles Conservation Boot Camp

The Nature Seychelles Conservation Boot Camp offers volunteer opportunities between 2 and 4 weeks to volunteer with Seychelles wildlife. There is a registration cost of 520 euros for a 2-week period, and 1000 euros for a 4-week period. Click HERE for more information.

 
8) International Volunteer HQ, Mexico

International Volunteer HQ offers a variety of volunteer projects based in Mexico. These include opportunities in Childcare, Arts, Community Outreach, Environmental Education, Upcycling and Animal Rights. There are low volunteer program fees associated with this initiative. 9) United Nations Headquarters

The United Nations Headquarters offers opportunities for students with an excellent command of English or French to intern in a variety of countries for 2 to 6 months. Academic credit is also available. Click HERE for more information.

 
10) United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

UNDP offers part-time and full-time opportunities for students with an excellent command of English, French and/or Spanish to intern either in UNDP Country Offices, at Regional Hubs or at the UNDP Headquarters in New York. Click HERE for more information.

 
11) United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)

UNICEF offers opportunities of 6 to 26 weeks for students aged 18+ with an excellent command of English, French and/or Spanish to intern in various capacities. Click HERE for more information.

 
12) United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Internship Programme

UNFPA offers a Development-focused opportunity for students with an excellent command of English, French and/or Spanish to intern in their New York Headquarters. Click HERE for more information.

UNHCR offers internship opportunities for up to 2 to 6 months as well as opportunities to volunteer domestically or abroad.
