Program Description

In the Bridge Watch program, you'll acquire academic skills, marine safety training, sea experience, and hands-on training. You'll be doing this by using facilities in our rigging room and on our training vessel. We work hard to train you to be effective members of a ship's watch, both on deck and on the bridge.

Our goal is to prepare you for the Transport Canada's Bridge Watchman exam. Completing the test successfully earns you a Bridge Watch Certificate, making you employable as a deckhand in the marine industry.

Program Structure

This 8 month program features 16 weeks of in-class instruction, 60 days sea placement, and required 3 weeks marine safety training.

Admission Requirements

Completion of a high school diploma.

Proof of satisfactory physical fitness, visual acuity, colour vision, hearing, etc. prior to writing Transport Canada exams. It must be provided by way of a signed Transport Canada Seafarer's medical from an approved physician.
