The Dr. C.R. Barrett Library is located on the main floor of the Fisheries and Marine Institute. It offers a comprehensive range of research material to students, faculty, and staff at the Fisheries and Marine Institute and to the Newfoundland marine industries.

The library collection supports study and research in Fisheries and aquaculture, marine technologies, nautical science, and the ocean environment. The Library Commons has 24 computers and study space for both individual and group study work. Additionally, the Learning Resource (tutoring) centre is located in the library.
