Madhura Weerasekera, MSc, Fisheries Science (Stock Assessment)

Madhura WeerasekeraMadhura Weerasekera is a master of Fisheries Science (Stock Assessment) student under the supervision of Dr. Noel Cadigan. He received a B.Sc. in Environmental Science and Natural Resources Management from the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka and an M.Sc. in GIS and Remote Sensing from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He is passionate about Fisheries Science and has been working as a researcher at the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA), the research arm of the Ministry of Fisheries, Sri Lanka, since 2014. He is currently involved in his thesis research to develop a spatiotemporal models of fish productivity.

Kunasekaran Nirmalkanna, Postdoctoral Fellow

Kunasekaran NirmalkannaKunasekaran Nirmalkanna is a postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Noel Cadigan at the Fisheries & Marine Institute, Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. His research interests involve statistical models for fishery data. His current research projects are focused on spatiotemporal models for fish weight-length and maturity-length relationships.  Prior to joining CFER, he did his Ph.D. in statistics at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. He has an MSc in statistics from Simon Fraser University and a BSc in statistics and computer science from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
